The Robin Hood

Have been to the Robin Hood today, a sad occasion as one of dads oldest friends died last week and it was his funeral at Robin Hood crem, with the wake at the pub.
Dad wondered what the pub was originally, it's lovely inside with lots of little alcoves and floor levels, was it a family home?

The name was subsequently adopted by the Robin Hood public house. This was built as a large private house and was converted into a pub in the 1920s when the tram-lines from Birmingham City Centre reached here. It was then a countryside attraction for tourists from Birmingham.

IIRC Mary went on the run the Colebrook and then the Hall Green Conservative Club. Very pleasant lady.

Is this the right pub? I ask because I am not sure if it was a pub in Hall Green, or Acocks Green... and we are unable to read the name apart what looks like 'Tony Caevery'

Yes it is the right pub Pomgolian, it is a "Toby Carvery" which is the "pub chain name"

Thanks for that Pomgolian, the decor has changed a bit colour wise, but that's the one.
It's a carvery pub and the buffet food they provided for te wake was lovely. The carvery itself smelt delicious and it was really busy on the Thursday lunchtime when we went.
Had to laugh though,they now offer a take-away carvery deal - a new look to the doggie-bag maybe........

Mom can remember it like your pic Stitcher.
We went there a couple of weeks ago and the food was excellent, they also do a pie or sausage choice and a veggy choice if you don't want a traditional carvery and the childrens meal is good too.
The puddings are nice, you get a "bottomless" custard jug - you can have it refilled as much as you want to!
We have also been to one in Shenstone Wood End, if anyone is over Lichfield way, that was very nice too.

Thanks for that Sue, I was born not far from the Robin Hood and Lakey Lane was moms usual shopping haunt. When we next go to Shirley Aquatics we might give the Robin Hood a try.
