The Queens Arms

Gone but not forgotten R.I.P.
The Queens Arms on the corner of Queen St. I quite like the graffiti.

Disagree Terry, I think that graffiti is an example of the Feral lot taking advantage of white walls to publicise their total disregard for the rest of us.
If it's the pub's own painting then OK, probably, but if not I'd string the b**stard up.
It's only my view of course.:)

I hate to see these old pubs being painted in these garish colours, it makes them look so tawdry.

I see the Brewers Arms over the road has not fared much better, its a Chinese Restaurant now, the new owners obviously thought it would look much better painted several shades of yellow.

I'm also posting a snap of the Queens in better days, in its time it was a good little house.

I would'nt like to see that painting on the wall every time i came out of the house. The fact Carling is painted on one of the barells suggests that it is a pub painting, and if so would require planing permision. If its been passed it makes you wonder whats in store for the rest of us.

With hindsight (and looking again at the original pics!!) it's obviously NOT the feral lot that's done it. Sorry.:(
But what an awfull sight for a pub to do.

An absolute abomination, should not be allowed, irrespective of what they say about graffitti, this is not the way to go.
You can do what you like now as regards changing the name of an establishment and there is no comeback.
What do the people that instegate these changes think they are achieving, there's only one word for it -SACRILGENE.

It is so interesting to see the Queens in it's new livery, I lived there as a child between 1954-1964. The bus garage was next door and most of the custom came from there. My father died around 5 years ago and while cleaning out the house I came across his order book for draught beer dated 1958. he ordered 20 Hogs heads of beer (56 gallons each) per week. That is almost 9000 pints a week. I wonder if there is a pub in the country that does that sort of business these days.

think its changed again and is no longer a pub, its now a curry house, so the paintings have gone
