Afternoon all

The 1911 Census shows that my Grandfather's sister (ie my Great Aunt), Doris Russell, was employed at the above establishment as a nursemaid. She was aged 14, the landlord was Frederick Alfred Bradley Lovekin who had a young son (John Alfred Bradley Lovekin)

I can't find any information about the pub and my Great Aunt seems to vanish from the records after 1911.

If anyone has any info on either the pub, the landlord or my Great Aunt I'd be interested to see it!

There are some photos of the Gaiety cinema here and Phil (sadly no longer with us) I think is saying the Prince of Wales is on the opposite corner (Coleshill St & Gem St)...

what a lovely photo lady p as judy says...its one to treasure... 2 cracking photos off you dennis..i would say its not a pub lamp but obviously its just my opinion unless of course someone can pin point where in gloucester st the old rose and crown was..thanks for posting them as i am not on...

Interesting update, I have just discovered that my Great Aunt, together with several family members, emigrated to Quebec, probably shortly after WWI. More to follow when I have unraveled everything (if I can!)
 
just had a quick look on ancestry and there is a 1921 census in canada for a doris russell boucher

also there is a quebec church record (could be a marriage record) for a doris russell alias boucher

also she is living in smethwick on the 1901 census with parents william and alice and brother william aged 5 and brother baden aged 11 months all born in smethwick

looking at todays map coleshill st no longer exists

you probably have this info but just in case you dont
