This is for you Steam Enthusiasts/Buffs I heard this, this morning, it has been 40 years since the end of steam and the (Oliver Cromwell the last steam train made it's historic journey from Liverpool to Carlisle August 1968) is now on show in Yorkshire.
There is also a new steam train which has been built in the UK and will be ready for viewing in two months time COST 3 million, DONATIONS by 2,000 folk started in 1990. i was listening to Rob Anderson and Mark Evan ?
On BBC radio If you would like to read about it yourselves.
...google... BBC radio....once in, scroll to uk...click... and it is on the front page on the left hand side.

Another thing noted by these two men is that every childs drawing has a funnel with a whisp of smoke...Cat

ABOVE POST.

I have given this page a nudge because it is on this weekend and some people may wish to go and have a look...Catkin

In the Sutton Observer today there is a lovely photo of 2 steam engines passing through Sutton Park last Monday afternoon (22 Feb) One is 70013 Oliver Cromwell and the other is 30777 Sir Lamiel. It must have been a great sight, wish I'd known about it beforehand! Bob

And me Bob I would have loved to have seen that.......any excuse to go back to my old playground as well!!

Missed them also :(

Me too. I intended to see them at Bordesley Junction but I had not reckoned on the traffic along Dartmouth Middleway and then Lawley Street absolutely horrendous and one lane blocked off under the viaducts. Saw the steam as the passed the railway end of St.Andrews. Bet the Sutton Park pic was taken by Graham Gifford? There is another engine passing through the area on Monday en route for the Severn Valley via Bescot, Hamstead, Perry Barr and Soho Jct.

Photo is credited to Trevor Davies. From the above comments I presume main line steam workings such as this are publicised. Does anyone know if there is a website which gives advanced warning of routes, times etc?

Yes, both mainline steam hauled tours and light engine movements are published on the web, timings etc.I thought it may have been a pic of Grahams as Sutton Park is a favourite spot of his and I have seen a few of his pics in the B'ham Mail.I will sort links out for infomation you require.
