My grandparents Gladys and Fred/Horace Stokes ran the oak during WW2. My dad was in the navy at the time, but around on leave. I have loads of photos of the back of the pub and the inside but none of the front at all. Can anyone help? They previously ran the Mitre inn Ledsam street and the Eagle and Ball Penn street.
My great grandfather was also a publican running for a few years around 1911 the Rose Tavern henley street then later the Old White Lion lancaster street and the Beehive Geach street Duddestone. I can find no mention anywhere other than the censuses of these latter pubs and would love to know any history. His name was Joseph Haddon, married to Ellen.
