GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN R.I.P.
Medals.
This man of the war did his best
For a few medals on his chest
On his return from the conflict of war
He took the medals of and put them in the draw
From this day on no more was ever said
Nor of his mates who now were dead
Back to his old job driving a tram
Trying to get back to being a family man
But things ain't what they really seem
Every night turning in to a bad dream
How long will it take to forget this dam war
Forever those images of horror that he had saw
The truth was he had returned in a shell of his old self
Now forever to be suffering with ill health
This man who had gone to war when I was a lad
I can tell you now that this man was my dad
Today I took those medals out of the draw
Just a packet of tears that he had fought for
This man of the war did his best
For a few medals on his chest
On his return from the conflict of war
He took the medals of and put them in the draw
From this day on no more was ever said
Nor of his mates who now were dead
