The group of buildings were constructed in the form of an L with one side along the original Stoney Lane and is show on the 1885 Ordnance Survey, published in 1888.
Stoney Lane was then a narrow road, whilst the Malthouse was near the "Old Ring of Bells Inn" at Yardley Village.
