Do you have any idea when the cafe picture was taken. tried 1933.1940,1956,1964 and got a couple of coffee rooms, but no lucas cafe, but then the name over the door didn't always appear in the directories

hi mike...this was where my nan ran a little shop in about 1930 and ive only found out today that it was number 22..ive got a pic of her ouside the shop and compering both that and the lucas one i just wondered if they were one and the same...they look very similar to me...
Lyn
No luck for Lucas in directories. Well street (any of) doesn't seem to bring up any addresses in the electoral register either . Tried enlarging and then making negative the number (at least I think that's what it is) of the house to the left above the door. I think its 51 or 61. Trouble is no mention of 61 back to 1890 (!) and only mention of 51 with 50 as a wholesale grocers back in 1921 and before. So maybe not much use.
mike
thanks for tying mike...heres a side by side pic of lucas cafe and nans shop with her standing ouside it...like i said i thought maybe they were one and the same... on close inspection the windows and step look very similar even though the pics were taken about 20 or 30 years apart but there again i surpose lot of shops looked like that...
Lyn they look like two diffrent shops, the step on your nans shop is a concrete block and the step on the cafe has two courses of bricks. Also the timber frame window is a lot nearer the door frame on the first photo.
yep rob...the door frame does it for me...had not noticed...oh well thats just blown my theory out of the water....think i shall go on a hunt now for more pics of well st...
