The Gaskins

Well, Drinkwater might have popped down the road for a cigarette and glimpsed the pools through a hedge but I'm a bit more poetic about stuff and like to imagine that "Now dawn comes to my window Breathing midsummer roses" supports the idea that he drew back his curtains and squinted at the scene with it's pools below. That is also, of course, why I'm such a poor detective!!
hi neil actually i think you posting drinkwaters poem could lend more support to the gaskins living at no 32 and not no 16...my thinking was if his words are about what he saw and heard would he really be able to look through the window of no 16 see the pool and also hear the cookoo on olton pool....this is a very interesting thread so thanks to all for helping

You may recall that in post #76 I made this comment

I based my work on the assumption that Thomas Reeve hadn't moved house between being listed at Charnwood and later at #16.
I worked along the lines of counting on from Charnwood on the list from the 1921 directory

It was only an assumption that Charnwood became #16 but Thomas Reeve continued to live in Charnwood until his death in 1945.
His probate record contains his address
Listing Charnwood as house number 16 as well. This leads me to conclude that the assumption was corret and that counting on from there to Northleigh at 28 (as it still is today) and hence making Newlyn 32
