Richard Evered started the business in 1809 in Charles Street, near Drury Lane in London. In 1860 the firm moved to the Barnet Works, Bartholomew Street in Birmingham to be in the centre of the brassmaking industry and in 1866 the Surrey Works was opened in Smethwick.
Manufacturers of chandeliers, brackets, hall lamps, gas lamps, gas fittings of every type, brass bedsteads, electroliers, solid and brass cased steel tubes, window and curtain fittings.

In 1900 employed 1,000 in their Birmingham works and 300 in their Smethwick works. See Graces Guide for long complex company history! Came across a mention of a factory in Erdington but cannot trace - any ideas?
