The cuttle

Jacquinjohn

proper brummie kid
Hi all ,we used to live in coleshil, and during the 1950s we used to go to what was known as the cuttle, this was an area next to the river cole down maxtoke lane, we remember that the house at the entrance used to serve jugs of tea , sandwiches, ice creams, squashes. Every one used to enjoy paddling in the river ,relaxing on the banks, we remember bus loads of people turning up at the gate, and it always seemed to be warm an sunny then.....happy days,,

I know the area you mean Jacquinjohn We went there on our bike from Brom one day we set out 4 of us with one tin of beans to camp out we were back the next day starving one mouthfull of cold beans didn,t go down very well lol

Hi, folks wouldnt cycle that far now would they? We used to cycle to the Lickeys just to catch tiddlers in the pond and come back with them in a jam jar. Happy memories..

I was a regular visitor there and if I remember correctly an ice cream van used to park up there. It was there that I got my confidence while learning to swim, although it was'nt deep there was a couple of little deepish holes where you had to be careful.
