My brother in Plymouth has given me a copy of a cd he found, one of the tracks is "The Brummagem Air", its so funny, all about the smells from brewery's, gasworks, HP Sauce, etc.    I only wish I was clever enough to be able to post it on here, so that others could hear it.

Barrie. I will keep a lookout for it. Its probably one of those things of the past now but would still love to hear it.

I don't know who its by mate, I'll phone me brother and ask him. Like i say, he copied the cd for me, and it comes up as "unknown artist" on Windows Media Player.

There is a cd called   "The Brummagem air "  by Carl Chinn, Malcolm Stent and Laurie Hornsby. O0

Postie. I recognised Carl's voice-over on one of the tracks, but I did'nt know the other blokes. Will it be ok with you if I copy the picture please.

I'm afraid the cd is out of print at the moment so you won't be able to buy it in the usual shops but there are lots of copies around, it was a big seller when it was released, so if you ask around or visit ebay you should be able to get a copy.
 
I remember those smells very well. I used to have to walk up Park Road, Aston, on the way to work every morning. The mixture of smells from Ansells and HP used to make your eyes water. :cry:

As I lived in Rocky Lane.... I had the Gas works close by too. And on Sundays, there was some company who used to empty their valves (chemicals so I was told) and the odour used to hit the back of your throat when you breathed. :explode:
