My mom (Maureen Moore) worked there betwen 1965-66 in Quality Control. As did my nan Sue Moore. Other staff members then included Mr Peet (supervisor), Mrs Bowker & her daughter Anita, and Sheila Bolter. I worked for a cleaning company every Friday night. Boy was it dusty. We used ladies...
Living away from Brum these days I am out of touch with things, and this is another example of that.
I know the pub, I grew up a couple of roads away. My grandad (and nan) were early customers, moving into the area in 1927. I well remember going to the outdoor in the 1950s with mom to get grandad a refill for the weekend. It's a sad reflection of the way we live today when the local pub closes, either through changes to lifestyle or the move to larger 'central' pubs with car parks (which were what the breweries built before it became inadvisable to drink alcohol and then drive).
My grandad would not believe that this could happen - just goes to show what 'the generation gap' means in real life....
