It's a Wherterspoon's now was and can still be a rough house

A fantastic building to look at and it's so big as well, according to the article they never let out rooms upstairs either so it was never a proper hostelry so what did they do with all those rooms upstairs?.
A mile back along the Bristol Rd towards Longbridge is another grade 2 listed pub, originally called the George V when I lived around there, then became an Asian restaurant, then fell into disrepair, now I see there is currently an application to turn it into apartments

The Black Horse, aka the Dirty Donkey, was a frequent watering hole for me, in my youth.

So the section "sticking" out is an alteration.

Not really Janice, as the photo below was taken just after it had been rebuilt in 1929, an dit has a sticking out bit, and different chimneys

This is the second Black Horse c 1900. The other photographs must be of the first. To me they do look pre 1900
