The 1st 3 Door Car ?

John Young

master brummie
In 1967 I was 17 & my Uncle Ted gave me his old car, He said If you can fix it up its yours, the wiring is totally burnt out, the Dynamo has had it but your an apprentice Sparkie so flippin fix it.
Well what a little Beauty, a Standard 8, a gentleman would not ask the age of a lady of "certain years" but I guess just after the Flood?
Worked night & weekends for two months relaying every cable, Stripped & rewound the Dynamo fields (Armature was Ok) then got her running sweet as,,, But problem was one of the rear doors kept flying
open on corners, lock was totally useless, Heh I got no money for proper
manufacturors prices then (Ooops still haven,t Ahah) so out came Dads
Welding set & I fixed it solid, Never opened again but we didn,t mind.
Ok, so now can I claim the the First 3 Door Saloon or what ???
Thanks & best Regards to All,, John

Photo's

:D John do you have a photo of said car by any chance :?:
Would love to see it on the 'Album Posts' and while you at it how about one of you for the 'Rouges Gallery' :?: (The Gallery one has to be sent to Rod - He needs more work as he has nothing better to do :!:    ). :)

My first motor was an Austin A30 ( I think ) that my Dad bought for £35 when I passed my test in 1966. As you can imagine, we had a choice of colours, either Black or Black, in those days. It was a great little runner though, and it did the job of getting my mates and I out and about.

I bought it off him and took this piccy:

I found it next and made it into this dumped it mid 8s pictured at Rye East Sussex where I worked  :)
