Taylor's

KayT

Brummie babby
I am trying to trace descendants of my great grandfather Charles Taylor born 1862 who married Elizabeth Gammage. So far I have found that they had 12 children, one being my grandfather James Alfred who was born in 1888 and married Edith Lucy Horton in 1914.

The 1911 census gives the family's address as 43 Bordesley Green Road, Aston

Any info would be marvellous:)

Re: more Taylor's

In 1920 the electoral roll lists at no 43 Charles, Elizabeth, George alfred and Alf Taylor. In 1922 it is just Elizabeth, and she has gone by 1925.
There is a George Alfred Taylor and Alice Martha Taylor at no 3 court 8 Lower Essex St from 1922-1930 . No other George Arthur is listed in 1922 (as opposed to Arthur George Taylor). In 1930 there is also George Arthur junior. In 1935 there is only George Arthur sen, George Arthur jun, and an Arthur.
In 1939 that court seems to have disappeared , with many other of the houses in the street. There are now four George Arthur Taylors, and no way of knowing which is this one

Re: more Taylor's

KayT - I have Taylors in my tree and the name is almost as popular as Smith. I also have a George and an Arthur and they lived in Aston but I dont think there is a relationship here but just to say good luck with the Taylors. Regards Caroline.

Re: more Taylor's

Thanks mikejee,

The 1920 electoral role info sound like their my Taylors! I think that Alf is my grandfather James Alfred (he was known as Alf) and one of his brothers was a George so may be this is George Alfred . Alf would not appear on the electoral role in 1922 as he moved to Jersey in 1921.

Please can you tell me if the historic electoral roles are available online?
