Taylor James 1890

Harvey3

proper brummie kid
Hit a brick wall after my gf James born 1890 Christened at St Nicolas, along with brother Edward 1888 who died WW1 1916 and sister Annie 1887.
Father was Edward Taylor c1850-c1906 and Mary Ann, widow of David McCoy but maiden name Taylor!!! born Roseveth Stafordshire
Census shows Edward lodging with the widowed Mary McCoy with the above 3 children (all born after her husband died )as Mccoy on the census yet christened as Taylor. i cannot find birth certificates for any of the children, nor a marriage certificate despite the 1901 census shows them living as man and wife.
Shot in the dark as to whether anyone on here can shed any light.

Hi I don't know if the following births will be of any help?
Births Registered Dec 1886
Annie Taylor Aston 6d 379

Births Registered Sep 1888
Edward Taylor Aston 6d 237

Births Registered Sep 1890
James Taylor Aston 6d 379

Births Registered Dec 1889
James Taylor Birmingham 6d 151

Births Registered Sep 1890
James Taylor Birmingham 6d 86

Edward and Mary may never have married as sometimes couples would say they were married even if they weren't,especially if they had children.

thank you. As a newbie, is there anyway to check the registration for parents or do I have to order them??

Hi you would have to order the most likely ones!
You can, however specify on the form, that you only want the cert if father's name is Edward Taylor and although you prepay, if you've ordered the wrong one, they will return your payment. (I personally would go for the Aston registered births)

Returning to this after a break in the hope anyone can help me. I have had the geneologist in Birmingham and the GRO do a birth search for james taylor and brother Edward with parents Edward and mary ann with surname taylor and or mccoy and just first names and all have drawn a blank. where do I go now??

I also have
Edward snr and family
1901- 74 Richard St Aston
Occupation Navvy

Younger siblings Alice taylor, Arthur Taylor, Kate Taylor.
