T. Elvins & Sons Ltd

I was working by callow hill the other day so had a look at the houses countryman homes did . They still look good althou all built around them now so much for green belt land .

Elvins was an old company, established in 1865. They also built a number of cinemas, especially in the 1920s and 30s. A few 'local' examples below. The 'Main Contractors' advert was for the extension they built for Bywaters pig processing factory in Small Heath. Source: British Newspaper Archive

The only person I have met up with is Ron Chiles. I know the Edwards you mean by the station. I worked on the library by the traffic lights. Fred Kite was the foreman.

Sorry I can't remember that. Remember Fred. Charlie and Brian were there I think. I left tracs a good few years ago. Glad you picked up some work off them. Original owners sold the business after I left.(nothing to do with me)

I mainly do work on schools for the last 20 years

are you still with Craig or on your own ?. My one son is self employed he does bathrooms and kitchens. Actually he lives about a mile from the Edwards you use. When we were working on the spires at St Chads I sneaked them both up to the top to take a view of Birmingham that not many people get to see.
