Do you ever cycle passed Keepers Pool? Imagine you have just come down from the Cubs monument straight down to the pool. On your right, are two lots of steps, as if there used to belong to some sort of grand house. Do you know what used to be there at all?View attachment 79857Opposite side ot this picture...
Yes and just a bit further down are the large steps leading to something...Dek & Sue

OMG you are brave I would never do that now....a few years ago maybe...lol
Absolutely, and those lessons in discipline go through your life for ever, regardless of whether you joined the Navy or not. Downes and Tillotson were there when I was there plus a guy called Horne, he was actually married to one of my cousins. Probably why I didn't get on with him too well.Hi Bikearal72, I too was a Cadet on that ship in about the same year as yourself, great times they were, Manouvres in the park, ropes and knots, ropes and pulleys, semaphore with hand flags, and those uniforms, pressing them was hell. A couple of names that spring to mind that you may remember are Commander Downes and Lt Tillottson, both officers on the ship. I think the best to come out of it was we were taught discipline and respect for others. Great days.
I've noticed that ship many times. Interesting - Who built it any ideas ?
