Have edited post #1 and thread title. Thanks all.
i think there is a very good chance you are correct jan...i was not convinced vivs photo was taken in icknield st at no 158 the properties look far too well built to be there...also if you look at your map post 11 it shows the houses to the left of the church as having front gardens as do the ones in vivs photoI don't want to throw a spanner in the works but...
I did a "google search for Viv's photograph and this is what came up

Does this mean that the number identifed as 158 is actaully a very blurred 398 and we have identified the wrong church?
i have been searching the newspapers viv for anything on the adult school social club but nothing so farIt seemed to me that the footprint of brummy-lads map post #2 fitted photo #1. And it's named as a 'church' on post #7 map.
Can anyone find the address (street name) of the Adult School Social Club as per brummy-lads pointer in post #7 ? Did the Church run an Adult School next to the church ?
thats appropriate john as i think the welfare centre was built on the vaccination centre site..that was demolished round about 2021I did this list, tracing names and numbers across the years, in 1883 it was a vaccination centre.
yes you are correct john...the chapel at icknield st east was set back from the road and was demolished..the chapel in our photo was at icknield st west and was set on the pavement as shown in the map and the photo also now demolished...I was thinking that the one shown set back was the Summer Hill (Primitive Wesleyan) Chapel that had been demolished. To be honest I think I've fried my brains trying to get my head around it all.
