Stretton Lilly or Lillian

One of my grandmothers was named Lilly or lillian Stretton not sure if she was born in Aston but i do know that she lived there........Also Jane Stretton. I think that Jane was Lillian's Daughter.
I would appreciate any help. Cat
 
Hi Catkin nice to see you back, now do you any ideas to what years these ladies were born? There are a number of ladies with both those names and it would make it easier if we had some kind of date line to go by.

Name: Lucy Jane Stretton

Now if Lilly was Jane's mother what was her maiden name, or was she an unmarried mother ? Because I can't find her even using Phonetic on Stretton.
If you are getting the cert's say you only want it if Lilly/Lillian was the mother's name. That way, if you don't know Lilly's maiden name it will be on the birth cert' and you should get the right one.

I have just been told that Jane was born in 1881 and that she had a brother William born 1885, is it possible that you could have another look for me please. Cat
 
Hi, on checking the GRO birth records there are no entries for Jane Stretton 1880/1881/1882 but this may interest.
Lily Jane Stretton b. Leicester July qtr 1880. 7a 218

There is a William Stretton born in Birmingham 1885 but his parents are
William and Rosina.

If your grandmother was Lily Stretton what was your grandfathers name.

Cat, I don't understand where Jane fits in as William and Rosina married in 1884 ,she was Rosina Birch.

I understood from your previous posting that William was Janes brother and Lily was their mother.

Is it possible for you to do look up's for Staffordshire, or could you point me in the right direction. Once again i would be very grateful.
 
Sorry Catkin forgot to put that Lily E Stretton birth was in the
'Births Dec 1912 Quarter'

I use :
https://www.freebmd.org.uk
for look ups and they cover most births, Marriages and Deaths and areas, from 1837 up to at least 1915 now (with some names even later) and are adding more all the time.

Issue-- Jane 1881 William 1856(do you mean 1886)and Lily 1912
Where did you find these facts?

Lily Strettons mother was called Smith so it could not have been Rosina Birch.

I have found no connection between
Jane 1881
William 1885/6
Lily 1912



Apart from the fact that Rosina was 56 in 1912,it would be most unlikely that she would give birth 31 years after the birth of her first child.( Jane 1881)

If you send for the 1912 birth certificate with the info that Pom found it will go a long way to helping clarify things.
