Hello,

I don’t know if I am too late in finding this thread but I am the daughter of Pat (Patrick) Mclaren who you have mentioned in this post (I think it will be the same person as he grew up in Ladywood around this time and was well known)
I am looking to find out more about him as he died when I was only 3 years old. He lived on St. Marks Crescent for a time, if anyone has any info I would love to hear it!

Hello, I am looking for further information about my father.
He was born around 1941 in Ladywood and grew up there, he also died there when I was only 3 years old, his death was in the local newspaper due to the horse drawn carriages to the Oratory Church. He went by Pat (Patrick) McLaren and had quite a big family in the area including a brother called John but I know almost nothing about the rest of the family. Anyone who might have known him and has memories please let me know :)

I think I have your family (just names and dates) but I'm not totally certain. However, if you want to start a new thread (it'll be more noticeable for others with an interest) I can let you know the info.

Hello!

This is great thanks. I only made an account today so I’m not sure how to start a new thread but if you can send me the info that would be much appreciated!

Were any of your relatives name Malcolm a friend of mine had recollections of a Malcolm when he lived in William Street .

We lived in Stoke street, until 1969, at the end near Lee Longlands. On the left, I think number 5( only young when we left).
I have been back to Stoke Way as it is, and was re assured to still see the concrete hexagonal bollard that was on the corner of Stoke street was still there. I have memories of Copers standing there.

It's funny how seemingly everyday things can spark those
memories Liam. Your memory of policemen standing on that corner gives us a little glimpse of life in the area in the 1960s. Thanks. Viv.

Us I have 4 elder sisters and have shared the photos from this forum. We have been reminiscing all afternoon.
The bollard is a great reference point, when going past today, it’s changed a lot, thankfully

I am informed by sisters we lived at number 27, opposite the Outdoor picture, once it was converted back to a house and the Hardings lived there.

The photo below of a yard off Stoke Street was posted on another thread by member Olmohawk.

Also there's a short thread with that photo of the outdoor on the link below - SteveBhx told us: it was at #17 and was closed on 31/3/1957. And Dionysius posted this about the licensee on that thread:
