Re: William stevens

Found this marriage

William Stevens to Elizabeth Jennings
Registered in Dec Quarter 1911 in Aston
Ref: 6d- 772

If you purchase marriage cert, it will give Elizabeths father name and his occupation to enable you to go back another generation.
Certs cost about £7.00 plus Post

Re: William stevens

hI BO.
You are a real genleman and a scolar and a super star all in one
that is really brilliant for you to find that out and put me on track as i have never started to trace my fathers
family and never ever knew whom is fatjher was either he died or disapeared before my brothers
and myself came on the scene we leart that father had a brother whom went to war and got shot
in the head and died we was told we never ever seen him either
we know his brother was named albert and thats all
any way bo i will be on my way to brum on wednesday to the reg office to get a copy of the certif ;
thats brill news if it tells me his fathers name or the mother and here occupation
have a nice day Bo . best wishes Astonian ;;;

Re: William stevens

Just to add to your choice -
There is a birth registration of a William Stevens 2nd quarter 1915, Birmingham, vol 6d page 498. Mother's maiden name Jennings.

any way LLOYED many thanks for giving me the other option regarding this certif;

thats brillient news and thanks again for your help yet again on this you have been brillient
you have been doing best wishes Astonian ;;;

Re: William stevens

Thank you Lloyd , I missed that one

It appears that Willaim Stevens born 1922 mother maiden name is either Porter or Young.

Was Elizabeth Jennings married before ?

Females remarry in their last known name , rather than maiden name.

So looking for another marriage of Jennings and Porter Jennings or Young.

I know it is your maternal grandmother we are looking for but

Can we go back to the drawing board and start with what we know

Do you have your Parents Marriage cert ?
What was your mothers full name including maden name .
This Marriage cert will shouldgive your Paternal Grandfathers name

Astonian, I am no gentleman :D I am female

Bo

Re: William stevens

Hi Astonian, sorry to hear you're a bit under the weather.
You have a pretty definite birth date for William ("william stevens born dec 26 1922 aston")- but I can't find a registration that matches, not with Mother's maiden name Jennings. Did he have other names??
Yes you should be able to get certificates with the details given - name, date in quarters of the year, volume and page numbers of registers.

Re: William stevens

Births of Surnames STEVENS and Mothers Maiden Names JENNINGs

Florence b 1912
William b 1915
Joseph 1917
Albert b 1920 ( is this your Albert ? )
Edith 1923
Lily 1923
Maud 1929

Could your father have been born in 1915 ?

May not all be from the same family , possible more than one marriage of a STEVENS to a JENNINGS

Re: William stevens

Astonian ,

Personally I would hold fire on Marriage cert for William STEVENS & Elizabeth JENNINGS and purchase your Parents marr cert first along with your fathers birth cert .

I am sorry to learn that you are not well.
Take care x

and that my mother was married to him her maiden name was joyce .ivy beatrice jelf the one and oly child to
to bertha victoria hinton whom got married by a special licence i was told
and i think he was a step brother to the rest of them as they was jenning i am to beleive
and they went to live in parilment st aston or they moved to george rd erdinton then
i beleive they went to live in cromwell square then to george rd erdinton
but i will do what you have said get the mother marrige certif; and his birth certif ;
but the others are correct thats for certain .
