Stevens - William Stevens married Elizebeth Jenning in 1911

Astonian

gone but not forgotten
hi guys
I had information from alberta about two years ago regarding information about my fathers father
my fathers name was william stevens born 1915 and his father was also william albert stevens whom i beleiv was his first son
before my father was born albert was the first son to william albert stevens
i beleive if i have got it correct that elizebeth jenning
could have been maried before or her maiden name could have been young
that part iam not sure of so my question and queery is i9f my fathers name stevens and i know he had a brother named albert whom got dead in the war and he married my mother she became stevens but i am told his mother was named jenning before marrying a william stevens and according to a list her sibbling which was wiliam my father floss ; joeseph ; albrt lilly and maud and edith was jenning
so where does the name change come into it was it a deed poll or what
and what if possible where does this william albert stevens come from and i cn only presumethats where albert comes from his father
william albert stevens being the brother to my father born william stevens
if any body ould help on this i reallly like to find out excactly just where i am coming from as well
i was told that by my mother floss wanted to adopt me but she declined as my mother would not do it
i do know floss eventualy adopted a son ; from some where else i hope some one can understand what i am saying
i do beleive that nan stevens possibly lived or married a jenning in parliment street aston he was a cart maker and hirer i beleive
once again i thank every body for there time in reading my request best wishes Astonian

Re: william stevens married elizebeth jenning in1911

Hello,

There are all listed on freebmd - Warwickshire area

Marriages

Dec 1911 Aston - William Stevens and Elizabeth Jennings

Births with surname Stevens and mother's maiden name Jennings

Sep 1912 Aston - Florence

Jun 1915 Birmingham - William

Sep 1917 Aston - Joseph

Jun 1920 Aston - Albert

Jun 1923 Kings Norton - Edith

Jun 1926 Birmingham North - Lily

Jun 1929 Birmingham North - Maud

There are three Elizabeth Jennings (aged 19 or 20) listed as living in the Warwickshire area (all Aston) in the 1911 census but there's no way of knowing which, if any of them are the right one without more info. And there are a fair few unmarried William Stevens living in the area.

Re: william stevens married elizebeth jenning in1911

Hello Astonian,

My sister lives not far from Barr Beacon, it is a nice area.

I'm sorry, I have no information about William Stevens and until (or if) the 1921 census comes out the only way I can see of getting any useful is to purchase the birth certificates of the children, which should give you some addresses and occupation, and the marriage certificate of the parents, to get the fathers' names of bride and groom. And even then it may not be enough.

One little worry - you say your aunt Lilian is in her 90s but the Lily Stevens with mother's maiden name Jennings I listed would only be 86 or 87 at the moment. So if she is in her 90s then that isn't her.

Re: william stevens married elizebeth jenning in1911

Alan, I am pretty sure that in our conversations a few years ago you knew the details of the marriage certificate, so if you post these we can help again.

Re: william stevens married elizebeth jenning in1911

hi alberta ;
I recall afew years back i did asked for abit of help regarding my fathere and mothers marrige but not of his father as to whom who was he ; and aqny dates for him regarding dates of his birth nor marrige it was only of my mothers side i have been working on over the years until recently
i would do a check regarding his father and mother if i could hold of this information regarding his birth place and date along with possilbilty of marrige
would be great as i was under the impression she had been marid been married before marying this william albert stevens
many thanks alberta for your time in coming back to me on this important thread to me
