Thanks Pete, I did have a wonder over Astn Sheds as a kid. We used to sit on the capstan and spin each other round. I recall there was a turntable there too.aston shed

Recently acquired 2003 book "Heyday of Tyseley & it's Locos" Whitehouse and Hogarth" 1964 printPresumably there were steam sheds at Tyseley. Any photos?

I do recall older men on the sitei had a part time job in a shed by the cut in the late sixtys there was a row of locos ready do go for scrap with most fittings lamps etc left on but with in a few days thieves had nicked most of the items and brass off them.

with a stove the seats used to lift up
for storeage thats where the goodies
were found
I went from Birmingham (New Street I think) to Gloucester on a Saturday night with my bike maybe 1959 and they let me stay in the guards van with the stove and pop up seats, very nice! And why was I doing that, I had a part time job at a butchers shop and had to work during the day on Saturday, I was going to the west country youth hosteling with friends who were able to leave on Saturday morning and stay in Bristol. I got to the YHA Bristol a5 7,00am. Sorry off topic but my ride in the van was super!I do recall older men on the site
