Hi
I'm trying to find out who the parents and the Birth dates were of James Stanton and Mary Pressen they were married in St Thomas's in Dudley on the 22nd of September 1806.
I hope i've posted this in the right place
Regards
Fred

Borofred - do you have any other locational info? As I am sure you've seen IGI doesn't throw up anything obvious in the Dudley area, possibilities inc James 1775 Bromsgrove or 1780 Kidderminster and Mary 1774 Sileby but neither are anywhere near definite

Hi Aidan
The only other information i have is they were married in Bitterly
Sorry
Thanks
Fred

I would suggest taking a look at the Marriage Record to see if there is any other clues (& check the Baptism records while you are there just in case. Do you have their Death Certs and early census entries? These may narrow down the birth date and provide other clues.

Other possibilities is that the parents could have been Catholic or Non-Conformist at the time of birth which are a bit more tricky to find if so. I believe from other threads that St Chad's may help with Catholic records & Central Library for Non-conformist records - but I have no experience (yet) of either. Abroad can't be ruled out (although perhaps unlikely that both were)

Hiya Fred ..if no-one can help on this then the easiest way is to send for the marriage Cert. that will at least give you their ages and the fathers name
the office you will need to send to is
Dudley Register Office
Priory Hall, Priory Park, Priory Road, Dudley, West Midlands DY1 4EU

Maggieuk - is it possible to get BMD certificates pre-1837 from the local registrars then? If so I have got some work to do, but I understood it was all Parish based up to then?

Aiden sorry your right i read the date wrong:rolleyes::):)in this case Fred will have to get in touch with Dudley Archives

Many thanks for your help i'll try contacting the archives after the weekend and i'll post how i get on
Best wishes
Fred
