St Saviour church Saltley look up

Homebuilt

New Member
Iam looking for the marriage of James Guest and Mary Ann Mcmanus in March Q 1900 at St Saviour Church Saltley. I believe that the information I have that identifies James Mcmanus as Mary Ann Mcmanus father is incorrect and would like verification on who her father was.

Yes I would still like the information. After 3 Years I'am no further on with my family tree. I have found no reliable information on Mary Ann Mcmanus or James Guest. I can not find either of them on the 1901 or the 1911 census records. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok. I'll be going to the Birmingham Reference Library during this forthcoming week, i'll have a look at the marriage entry for you.

Went to the Library to-day and found the following;

James Guest, a 26 year old bachelor, and a electrical engineer of Malthouse Lane, married Mary McManus, a 23 year old spinster of High Street at St.Saviour's church Saltley on 10th March 1900. James's Father was James Guest (deceased) a brass worker. Mary's Father was James McManus (deceased) a tool maker. Both James and Mary signed the register as did one of the witnesses, Maria Green. The other witness was Thomas William Guest whom left his mark X

Steve,

Thank you for the information. I have had a quick look on the 1901 census and I still can not find James and Mary. With the information that have provided I should be able to identify them on the other census. The wittness are a husband and wife that can be found on the 1901 cenus living in Malthouse lane. The search goes on.

Thanks again.

James.

Just a thought. Ancestors of mine married in 1907 and i couldn't find anything on them for a while. Then i found out that they emigrated to America via Canada soon after marrying! Maybe yours did too?

Steve,

My problem and the reason for the asking for the look up is the fact that besides the information you supplied about the wedding, I can not find ethier of them on the various census. My Grandfather was born in 1903 at 38 Windsor Street Aston. So maybe there where out of the country in 1900. I have looked on the 1911 census and the best match was a Mary Guest born Wednesbury married living in a workhouse with children but no husband. This information raises more question ( why was she living with out her husband ? ) but does not help finding her. I have just ordered a death certificate which might help.
