I am trying to find the burial of Jane Norton born c.1773/5 who died in Birmingham in 1823.
Likewise the burial place of her father Henry Plant born 1750/51/52, who also died in 1823.

Anyone out there searching for Nortons or Plant surnames from Birmingham ?

FMP has the burial of a Jane Norton on 3 Dec 1823 aged 48 born 1775 at St. Mary's, Whittall Street. Also a burial for Henry Plant 7 Dec 1823 aged 72 born 1751 at St. Bartholomew, Edgbaston.

Another drawing of St Mary's dated 1795. An ornate and embellished tower compared with the plain, octagonal area for the congregation. Hutton obviously thought it was unbalanced as a design (see earlier post #28 extract below). The tower was rebuilt in 1866 in the same style. Also the portico seems in a slightly odd position.

Post #28 tells us:

The design, by Joseph Pickford, was thought by Hutton to show 'too little steeple and too much roof'. The tower was of three stages, the first round, the second octagonal with Doric columns at each angle, and the third, from which rose a slender spire, octagonal with a clockface and pediment on each alternate side. The tower and spire were rebuilt in 1866 to a very similar design, with pilasters instead of columns and a balustrade on the second stage.
