Hello all,

Could anyone give us anymore details about the marriage of our Gt Gt Grandparents, Charles Howell and Emily Jane Chinn in the Parish of St Martins. They married on the 6th Oct 1867, and we were just wondering whether they would have actually been married in St Martins Church or was it another church in the Parish.
Also would there be a record of witnesses etc as this could help us with our research.

Many thanks.....Tracey :)

In theory you would have the following information on this cert

The name of the bride & grooms fathers, and their occupations
the full name of the bride and groom, their ages, their occupations and address at time of marriage and there will be the names of two or more witnesses too.

And the church will have been Saint Martins.

Hi Tracy, Charles Howell and Emily Jane Chinn married at St Martins on 6th Oct 1867. Charles was of full age and a batchelor his occupation was Steel Toy Grinder. Abode Darwin Street his father was John Howell occupation Confectioner. Emily Jane Chinn was of full age and a spinster, abode Darwin Street, father Joseph Chinn occupation Brass Founder. Witnesses were James Gaunt and Maria Ansell.

You're both very kind.....Wendy, you've just gave us another name to search for now......Charles' father , John......you're a star...thank you.

Tracey...:)

Hi,

i cant seem to find that marr on the st martins records

there is a marriage though on 25.12.1849

john west age 21 and maria barlow age 23 bachelor and spinster

john was an edge tool maker and his father john west was a spoon maker

marias father was thomas barlow a bricklayer

george smith and hannah james were the witnesses

i can see the error, it was st philips not st. martins.
