Good Mike but you didn't ask for details of where he was buried:)

But I'll be back soon in the mean time if you put Witton Cemetery in the Search Box at the top of the page it may help Witton is very good for information they have a e-mail address.

Also these are very good

Hello and welcome Mike, I am afraid Samuel was not buried at St Martins I would think it very likely he is in Witton with his wife do you know if she was in a private or public grave? The cemetery was opened in 1863 because of the overcrowding in church yards.

I found a baptisim I am not sure if you have it but here you are;

Feb 27th 1850 John son of Samuel and Harriet Cherrington abode Bristol Road, fathers occupation Maltser.

Thank you for checking
His wife who died later was buried in a private grave but unfortunately it has been built up on and a further grave made so no information there exists.
Ichecked with the records office at the cemetery and they have no burial for Samuel

Mike do you have Samuel's death certificate? It may help if you know where he was living. Most graveyards were closed by this time so he would most likely be in a cemetery. The only possibility that he would be in a churchyard would be a family grave. You should not discount this as many couples were buried with their birth families.

Yes,

He lived at the time at Swallow Street in Birmingham City Centre in the district of St Philip
He died on 12/04/1874
Are there details of burials at St Philips Catherdral?

Regards

Mike

Mike the churchyard for St Phillips was closed in 1859. So now maybe Warstone Lane Cemetery or even Key Hill Cemetery although the latter was mainly non conformist there are some C of E burials. These cemeteries were built because of the churchyards being overcrowded the records are kept at Handsworth Cemetery.
