St Edwards / St Georges, New John Street West.

Has anyone got a photo of St Edwards in New John St which closed, then re opened in the 1950's as St Georges. I have searched but no luck so far!

Hi Wendy, I have never seen a picture of St Edwards church.It was bombed during WW2,the ruins were still there in the early 1950s as i remember spending many happy hours playing in the demolished church.
St Georges used the building on the left of this picture as a rectory.The more impressive building would have been the entrance to St Edwards,having walked through this building there was a courtyard before church.Moss

hi moss now im confused..this pic you posted on the njsw thread says that this is st edwards church..well it does when i hover over the pic...
if this is not st edwards can you tell me the exact position of it please..had a rellie who got married there

St Edwards church used to be at the rear of the buildings in the picture.
This map shows St Edwards in the centre and marked Presbyterian church.

ok moss thanks....next time i am at the library i will try and find a photo of st edwards church ..think my rellie married there in 1929

Thank you all for your help. As usuall it's family history that bought me to this thread. I do hope a photo can be found usually the council took pictures before demolition.

morning wend..after finding out a rellie married at st edwards i did wonder where it was...what we need now is a photo of it before it was bombed out..will be in touch if i come across one..
