St Chads Schools

I went to St Chads Infants, Juniors and seniors between 52 and 64. I remember Sr Etna Sr Veronica, Mr Conklin Mr Begley, Miss Brennan, Mr Byrne, Mr Walton, Mrs ?? the office lady. In the Juniors at Shadwell St I remember Mr Wells the headmaster, Mr Heneberry, I lived in New John St West and remember going to Alma St School for metalwork and woodwork. would love to see any photographs.
Sr. Ethna Fitzgerald was her full name.

Hi John
I knew Jimmy your brother quite well in them days, I also knew Phil Khannon (Cannon) I believe he was Jimmys half brother; I played with Phil for Small Heath Unity in the South Birmingham Combination from 1964 - 1968, both good lads.
Cheers
John Gibbons

Lots of memories about St. Chads School. I remember going from the infants to the junior section of the girls school which was upstairs.
I was 7 and then when I reached 10 the schools became co- educational and went to Shadwell Street school. Then back to the senior school when I was 11. Brearly Street. I left in July 1959. My granny lived in New John Street West and next door to her lived the Ross family.

I hesitated for a while but here goes nothing. Its great seeing names of teachers and fellow pupils from St Chads. Like a few others I came to St Chads after my junior years at St Peters Broad St.
The 2 photos in the yard at St Chads are mine, I think i posted them ages back on Friends United. Great bunch, Im aware of the fate of some of my past buddies but others ???
Here's a good one for you, going back some 20 years I was in Donegal and in particular near Malin Head. I knew that Mr Byrne and his sister came from that area and enquired a booze (where else) if anyone new their whereabouts. The bar tender pointed out a guy who he said would help me, but only when he finished watching some football on the TV.
Sure enough some 30 mins later I'm in Mr Byrne's company. He was in good shape, remembered a lot of the names being bounced around, but here's the good bit.
You know who, Blackhawk herself Sister Etna came up in the discussion, I'm biting my lip and Mr Byrne comes up with a classic,
That woman loved those kids.
You * what.
I deleted * to save the moderator the trouble.
Good luck to you all and especially the odd few that know me or my brothers John or Adrian RIP or Mary all of whom attended St Chads 1956 - 70
