St Chad's Hospital Hagley Road

It closed in 1988. Its now GradevII listed at 213 Hagley Road.

Think this must be the building. Is it apartments now ? Or still NHS property ?

HAGLEY ROAD 1. 5104 (north side) Edgbaston B16 No 213 (St Chad's Hospital) SP 0488 SE 36/25 II GV 2. C1800 altered. Red brick; slate roof with modillion cornice and blocking course. Three storeys plus attic; 5 bays, the centre 3 advanced and pedimented. The ground floor much obscured by added porte cochere. All windows sashes with glazing bars, 5 pairs deep on the ground floor, 4 deep on the first floor and 3 deep on the second floor. The windows of the central projection all altered in C19 and have cornices on brackets set within the original window openings. In the pediment, an oval window. Remodelled wings and extensive additions of C1930 left and right not included.

I visited this hospital in the mid 60’s to see my aunt with her new baby daughter. I don’t know if it only dealt with maternity then or had other specialities.
I think it was a general hospital at that time, even up to its closure.
In 1975 it had 110 general beds and 50 midwifery. beds.
It was once the home of a brassfounder.

Hi all! I’m entirely new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone could point to where I might find records from St. Chad’s Hospital specifically from Summer 1971? Would records from that specific time period still exist? Or destroyed? Now that the hospital is gone did records merge with other NHS facilities?

I don't know what sort of records you are looking for but if records exist they would certainly be "closed" '- ie not available for you to see.
Confidential records are covered by the "100 year rule" to ensure that records are only available publicly after the people referred to have died.
A search suggests that any records were probably merged with NHS and you would need to contact them
