hi everyone...

im after a bit of info on st augustine RC church, handsworth.

ive had a look at a few web sites, but i seem to be getting wrong info, unless its me... probably is...

my grandparents married at this church in june of 1929, but ive just read that the church wasnt built until 1939.. strange....

and on their marriage certificate, it states that the church was on oxhill road... website states that this isnt the case...

can anyone help me out pls...

The only church marked on the c 1913 map in oxhill road is St ndrews, a C of E church. However the 1921 and 1932 Kellys show a RC St Augustines School Chapel. Presumably the church was built later, but the marraige took place in the chapel.

St Augustines is on Avenue Rd, and this is less than 100 metres from Oxhill Rd. Agin the dates of the chapel match up
