Springfield flats,erdington, B23

Hi All,

Just wondering does anyone know the exact year the flats in Springfield were built, or else the years under construction? Sometime in the late 60s or very early 70s. They're the 2-storey houses, which are probably council houses, off Fentham Road and Clarence road down a couple of back lanes called Springfield.

It interests me because I remember talking to the builders on the site at the time, except I don't remember very much because I could only have been 3 or 4 at the time!

That's why I'd like to know the year... to pinpoint the year of a very old memory :)
Thanks for your attention and any info gratefully received.

I was at Erdington Boys school around 68 to 71 when they were mainly empty houses waiting demolition. I would think early 70’s.

Many thanks Morturn, that's great information! I'd like to have seen those earlier houses, apparently they were fine houses and needn't have been demolished, just needed a little care. Thanks again!
