I can also remember that wheel used to turn. What I have been told is the company used to make the wheels for pitheads at coal mines; those wheel were quite an iconic sight up until a few years back.
I also have a vague memory that this factory was located in the centre of Birmingham, and the wheel was mounted on the outside wall. It used to spin slowly round there too.
My grandfather was a tool maker who worked at Moss Gear, and also Stuart and Lloyds. I can recall there was a showcase located at the entrance to Birmingham New St Station, containing gears etc made by one of these companies. It may have been in the vicinity of the Queens (?) hotel.
I really like the way the manufacturers in Birmingham used to show off their wares like this
