I have ancestors who were living at the above place in 1915, can anyone tell me where about this was please ?
 
Hiya Brummie I KNOW that speaking stiles walk is on one of Peter Walkers maps..so I am sure he will help you when he is online:)
I think It was Holloway Head but Peter will confirm this

Speakingstile Walk ran from Holloway Head to Irving Street. I suppose the district then would have been Edgbaston then, later it would become Lee Bank.

If it is of interest to you this pub The Unicorn used to stand on the corner of Speaking Stile Walk until the area was revamped.

Hell . My granny used to live in Speakingstile Walk think it was 1 back of 2- her name was susan hemus.
 
Just joined site today. Thanks for map, just started researching Bates family and found them at 15, Speaking Stile Walk on 1881 census.

Wow - I wonder oif there's a connection my Overs family were at 16 Speakingstile walk. They were the Overs family whose Mother was a Bates?
