South Road Sparkbrook

Lyn

The best I can do is this picture of the Woodman that was on the corner of South Rd and Henley St.

If anybody has any old photographs or stories of South Road that they are willing to share it would be appreciated. I wanted to put something together for a former resident who was brought up in this locale after being born during WW2. Her family name was Gore.

A bit cheeky but .... could anybody who has access to the 1921 Census look up one item for me please? Despite paying £120 per year to Ancestry I don't have have access to this. Anyway, if anybody can help it is Frederick George Gore b.1918 son of George and Kathleen Gore. He lived in South Street in later years but I wasn't sure if he was here as a toddler.

Ancestry doesn't have the 1921 census, only findmypast. I don't have access but you can work around a little.

Is it 30 South Road? Frederick with parents, George & Kathleen Hilda and siblings, Irene & John Charles

Thanks folks, so there or there abouts but they seemed to move about in the same locale. Before the war, they were at South Terrace 17/24. He was a POW in the far east during the war. He died two years before I met my partner but he was her grandad - hence my personal interest.
My subs to Ancestry and British Newspapers is £200 per annum so I don't want to sign up to Findmypast and add to my bills. So, on this occasion I thought I would be cheeky.
