Lyn it was always a nasty looking and dirty pub as far as I am concerned since I was a nipper ,the eagle was the best of the two
I have drank in all those pubs from one end to another from spring hill up to the ivy bush and down Ladywood through and through
From spring hill down to the Aston brook up to old summer lane and around ickneild street down to the flat a.long up park rd back up to the green and dudley red and up to the top of cape hill and down factory red up to the star and garter west Bromwich back down Soho rd. And up to the city back around the city and back to spring hill astonian,, Alan,,

Hi Lynn
Did we or not did we many years back talking about nine years ago on here did start off with forum meet ups
At the black eagle all those years back I know in them days with older forum members it was a short of members turn out then
And yes today its enormous turn out now 9 10 years later which is brilliant now
As I recall the eagle was the popular of the two pubs even at lunch times workers from Cheney's used to pack them in
As like the evening and at week ends you could never get a seat

Have a great day Lynn Alan,,,,,

hello alan our first forum pub meet up was at the bull loveday st/price st...that was in feb 2009 in which we had just 6 members attend...as you know the meets ups have grown a lot since those days with brilliant turn outs...oh by the way we did have a meet at the black eagle about 5 years ago...

all the best

Hi Bob
It sure was in those days it was in my younger days as a young in in my early twenty there was three of us
And we would ever start at the turf spring hill and work our way up the spring hill into the queens across over the road to the coach and horses
Nip up the hill for the inglby arms then straight up all the way to the b a arms out sidebarker and Allen's clocking our old friend mossy in there
And his mate Micky. Duke of wellington then pop in and see old Albert Kirby for the crack then we would march on to every pub on our travells
End up at the red cow and of course soon lane and windmill lane the London tatters then up to the traffic lights then up to the red cow
Then we would make it back to the col edge arms then the grotto in Camden street in theresnugg room meaning back room smoke room
Then that's was Friday night then Saturday night he would do the run I have spoken about ,
Sunday we would just stay local the queens and the coach and horses and spend our day at the old windmill opersite the dudley road hospital
Which now is city hospital as we all know of it that's the days when opening hours was 10 ,30 morning and 5 at evening with old big Albert Kirby
He was a great guy to be around ya very cheer full Alan astonian,,,
