Smith and Ashford

Hello, I'm back after a very long absence! Hit so many brick walls that i had to lay down my research for a rest.
Had a couple of breakthroughs recently so i'm back!!
News on my great grandad's biography its still a project and im currently fleshing out a skeleton draft.

I have a couple of queries at this stage which I'm hoping members could help me with?
My great-grandad Ernest Smith married Leah Ashford in 1903, i have all the certificates etc...

My main question is where on Hospital Street were their courts situated?

Ernest lives with his mother at 28 court 5 house whilst Leah lives with her family at 25 court 9 house

Where are 25 and 28 courts in relation to each other on Hospital Street.

The other burning issue i have at the moment is that i have photographs of Ernest and some of the Ashfords (Mrs Agnes Ashford nee Horton, Maudette, Florence and Minnie) but not Leah my great-grandmother.
I wonder if anyone had seen any Leah Ashford photos on their searches?

Any help greatly appreciated, this is turning into an obsession now rather than a labour of love

hi rich have you seen our hospital street thread..there are lots of old photos including photos of various courts..ive gone through it but i dont think there is a photo of court 25 or 28 however there is one of court 29 which would give you an idea of what they looked like..start reading from post 1 however some photos posted up to 2010 were lost due to the forum being hacked...enjoy..click on link below

Ive had a quick look at the map ad it would appear that 25 and 28 courts are indeed opposite each other which makes absolute sense. The only slight problem is that towards the bottom of the map is another court 28, however this has an entryway coming off another street so i dont think this is Hospital Street. Can anyone who's in the know confirm that 28 and 25 north of the St Georges Tavern are the ones please?

I would definitely say the lower down court 28 is on Tower St. It fits in the sequence on that street but is out of sequence for Hospital St.

And as sure as I can be I would say the other two courts are the correct ones. Not always straightforward but you could try to match the number of houses on the map with a census or two.

i was performing a leap of faith which happened to work, i had a feeling that g-grandfather and g-grandma lived opposite each other when they were courting... and it looks like they did!
