When I lived in Smethwick and my friend lived in Bearwood, we used to get the night service bus after a night out in Brum, but the bus didn't go to Smethwick, so we used to get off at the Kings Head pub, Hagley Road, and walked down to Bearwood, where my friend went home, leaving me to walk the rest of the way down to Smethwick which was a long way considering it was 2am and had just started snowing! It would have been a nice walk in the daytime.
As I walked along with my umbrella, a Mini drove slowly alongside me with four lads in, my heart missed a beat, I feared the worst, but out of nowhere came a police panda car and they pulled them over. I carried on walking, thankful that I was safe. What are the chances of seeing a police car at 2am in the snow? I consider myself very lucky. I often think about it and I'm extremely grateful to those kind police.
