Sir Norman Wisdom.

Postie I love Norman as a child my lads were brought up to love him and my grandson now 16 still watches his old films when they are on. That is an utter disgrace what has happened and must be true. Surely if they had any compassion they would have let him live the rest of his years in his home envireonment and payed for a proffesional carer. I am absolutely disgusted and in one way hope Norman does not understand just what the people he loved and reared have done. Jean.

postie, i have just looked at that newspaper report on the above it has made me cry, i have just lost my mom november 27th, i am heartbroken over my mom, and to read this story, has saddened me and maddened me so much, poor poor norman, he gave us all so many laughs, and he is going to end up a lonely man now, just cant believe what iv read.

Lindev firstly I am so sorry about your mom almost the same date my mom died a few years ago. I am going to sit down and write a card to the address of the nursing for Norman as it reads he is in the early stages of dementia. It has realy peed me off. Jean.

Thanks for that Mike I must admit I missed it the first time around. Just hope he is happy wherever he is and being well looked after. Jean.

thank you g g Jean, you would know how i felt this christmas then i just wanted to cancell the whole thing, but going back to norman i hope he is happy

Here's a link to an interview with his son and daughter in law, and while I understand that Sir Norman needs full time care and attention now, I'm not sure if I can see eye to eye with how they're going about it. Perhaps there isn't an easier, kinder way but it seems so sad when someone of his standing needs the same constant attention as a newborn child.

Thanks for that Lloyd but it was not that convincing either way. Must watch it later with no back ground noise. Jean.

Hmm, that page was last updated 12th April 2008. I think things have happened since than.

Incidentally, if you want to know when a web page was last updated, write (or copy and paste) ' javascript:alert(document.lastModified) ' in the address bar and press 'Enter'.

When Cliff Richard put his mom into a home, I wondered, with all his money, why he couldn't have paid for private care to keep her in her home enviroment.
But until, you find yourself having to deal with that situation, you don't understand the full implications of dementia. After you have disconnected the gas and made everything as safe as possible, you cannot stop someone from just wandering off. When that has happened, it's time to make tough decisions.
Norman Wisdom was a wonderful entertainer, actor, singer, songwriter, comedien. It was only about four or five years ago that he was up the road from me, at the Yardley Service Men's Club, still entertaining. I love his song 'Don't Laugh At Me'.
I hope that Norman is getting back all the laughs that he has given. I hope he is getting good care.
But it is awfully hard to find a good home. And I wish the goverment and all those that 'have a say' would make care for all elderly and vulnerable a top priority. There are a lot of homes that give little care to their residents, but a lot to their financial viabilty.

Hello. I worked at the Birmingham Hippodrome when Norman Wisdom (without the Sir) did pantomime. He was absolutely brilllliant on stage and brought the house down every night. I think it was 'Robinson Crusoe' but memory fails me. He was a very nice man and left a very large tip for the stage crew after the panto's last night.
