Short Harry

Brummiebell

master brummie
Harry was born in 1853 and was we believe married to the daughter of Francis and Emma English. He was a rule maker and also worked in the Gun trade in Duddeston. He was I believe my Great Grandfather although he never married my Great Grandmother they lived together for twenty Eight years and had eight children together. He died in 1911. Any information about him or his relatives would be very appreciated, especially the English's. Francis was a retired Woollen Draper aged seventy with a much younger wife and had two other younger children but is not showing on previous census's and we would like to know Harry's wife's name. Also believe Harry had another illegitimate daughter called Gladys and would love to know what happened to her. Please does anyone know anything about him.

Re: Harry Short

Thank you so much for all that, how come I couldn't find it? However now I am a bit dubious as to if the 1871 census got it wrong and is Harry the Henry Short mentioned as the age fits, it could mean stepson not Son in Law. However it could be that Clara Short is the mystery wife of Harry and I will have a look for a marriage cert for them. This is definitely the correct family though although where Harry fits into it needs a bit of investigation. Henry isn't mentioned on the 1871 and Harry is the same age. They look as though they are quite well to do as well which surprises me especially in Francis's first marriage, I will try to look up the addresses and see. Didn't imagine Harry coming from a good family somehow, as he seems a bit of a bounder with all these wives and girlfriends around. Thank you again for that it really gives me a lot to think about.
