Shergold OF Aston

WEDNESBURY GUY
Hi

I am trying to find details of Charles Shergold and his wife Rosannah nee Bingham. They married in 1900 in West Bromwich. In 1901 they moved to Aston.

He was recorded to be an Army Reservist on his marrige certificate. I guess they would have had children and made there living in the Birmingham area. Can you offer any help please?

regards

Steve Bingham

its very strange steveo but your family appear on the 1901 census as follows...

potter street bham

sarah ann boland widow 52
thomas boland son 26
samuel boland son 19
sarah ann boland daughter 16 all born bham

rose hannah shergold daughter married 21 b. west brom
charles w shergold son in law married 28 b. bham

thought the mothers name should have been bingham?

anyway this seems like them. i know you want charles and roses children as well. maybe someone can come up with that.

Samuel Shergold birth reg. Aston, 1st quarter 1913
William J J Shergold birth reg. Aston, 3rd quarter 1915
both have Mother's maiden name....Bingham
No Shergolds with MMN Boland recorded.

Thank you Lloyd

For the information on Shergold nee Bingham.

With reference to 1901 Census. Charles Shergold and Roshannah were living in Potter St. Birmingham and Sarah Ann Boland is recorded as head of family and a widow. It also states that Rosannah is her Daughter.

I remember looking at Rose & Charles marriage certificate and Sarah ann Boland was a witness. Why she states she is Roses mother I do not know. Rose's mother was Ann Bingham she later married a William Davis and a ? Shelton in West Bromwich.

Very many thanks for the mail and the information on William & Samuel Shergold you have kindly sent. Much appreciated.

regards Steveo

Rosanna Bingham was born 1880 West Bromwich
on the 1881 census she is 10years younger than her widowed mothers last child, and in 1871 Rosannah the mother is married to Joseph bingham who died in 1878, 2 years before Rosannas birth, did the mother hand her over to the Boland family to care for .Perhaps the 2 mothers were related.Perhaps she was taken in by the Bolands when her mother Rosanna died age 58 in 1891
