Server crash and your donations

As most of our members will recall that our server recently died on us and a new one had to be purchased.
I would like to take this time to thank you personally for your more than generous donation for us to continue to keep bringing Birmingham History Forum alive and kicking for anyone interested in our great city and its heritage to be shared by all.
We actually own our dedicated server which allows us to govern the site as we and you like to see it.
It was never going to be about making money, our site relies on peoples donations.
So once again thank you for coming to our rescue and thankfully you really excelled all expectations.

Postie, our thanks is to you for keeping our dreams alive and doing it SO VERY WELL!
 
The server seems to be running well, thanks to Postie & Co! As we go through the “dog days of summer” I was thinking about what we all went through and in hindsight how it was managed very well by the administrators and moderators alike.
The Birmingham History Forum is such wonderful entertainment and you certainly can’t beat the price let alone the camaraderie! If you can spare an extra donation this year, I am sure it will be greatly appreciated! I plan to send in my third this year.
 
Well here we are again Christmas is nearly upon us once more and as usual the part of running this Forum is the thing I least look forward to, holding out the begging bowl for donations to keep us afloat.
We are very grateful for any amount as it means we can provide the continuation for anyone who wishes to use it.
Thank you all for your input to the Forum with your content and help you give to each other.
I also wish to take this opportunity to thank our hard working Moderators for the work they put in, I really do appreciate it.

Thank you for all involved keeping the forum running. I dont post much but always popping in and out.
I am giving a donation of £100 in remembrance of the 21 who lost their lives 50 years ago at the pub bombing here in Brum
 
I am sure this has been asked before but I can't find it or the ansswer.
As I have no idea about these things I just wondered what sort of cost, roughly, it is to run the Forum per month.
I imagine there are costs for the website, the running of the server and perhaps even other things I am not aware of.

With the way the Forum is set up, sections become due at different times of the year so no two months are ever the the same amount.
The trouble that happened this year was the server upped and died on us and cost us mega bucks to renew.
We obviously want the Forum to have as little as possible downtime and sometimes this incurs extra cost.
We always aim to run the Forum as is best for the members and always will.
Thank you to those who have donated, and as I said earlier I hate to come with the begging bowl but without donations we could not afford to run the site.

This is a great time to donate…….if everyone contributes whatever they can it will help insure our enjoyment for 2025!

Thank you Jim & Co as well as the good work by all of the moderators for keeping everyone on path (at least most of the time :cool:),
