The William Selkirks lived in Birmingham from 1785 to 1885 and were engravers of plate. In the 1800's they lived in Soho Hill, The Lazells, Spring Hill, Nursery Terrace, Bristol Road and Wellington Road. Would these have been good areas in which to live at the time?

Hi there,if you type Soho Hill into the search box at the top of the page quite a few threads come up with pictures of Soho Hill.
Bristol Road,Edgbaston, where I believe the Selkirks lived, was quite upmarket! There were quite a few large houses there in the earlier part of the century.
I believe Wellington Road (the Edgbaston one or the Handsworth one) was the same sort of housing.
Do you mean Lozells (Lazells)?
As I say type any of the roads into "search" at the top of the page and quite a few posts come up,some with pics.
For an up-to-date view have you tried google street view? There are still some of the older types of housing on those roads and I find "street view" quite good.
