ok thanks...bit busy at the min but i will see what i can find out later on today and i am sure others members may helpLucy and Rupert Green. Rupert was a butcher at H. A. Izon, 183 Dudley Road in 1921.
The shop at 176 IPR was a sweet shop but she sold groceries, pop, vinegar etc. I’m sure that many locals at the time would have been there. It was opposite the Bricklayers Arms.
I’m also looking for photos of the cake shop at 193 Dudley Road. This is where my Mom was born.
Thank you so much
yes it does show the shop...thanksLynag - Just looked at the webarchive version of Mac Joseph's long-gone Old Ladywood website, IPR page - see here - https://web.archive.org/web/20160402094542/http://oldladywood.co.uk/portroad.htm - There are some photos of interest if you scroll down through the page - one photo titled Looking Towards Dudley Road, I think shows the shop you are looking for - cars would suggest early 60s. There's also an old (1937?) photo of the Brick, with my grandfather sat outside on his bike. His sister, my great aunt Marion, at about the same time, was running a babywear shop at 220 IPR a bit further south along the road from the Brick - Bill Burton
John - Thanks for the aerial photo - best one I've seen showing the front of the old family home, next to the Harborne railway - and the back of Pimms opposite, where my dad worked - BillAn aerial view and map of #176
