School sweetheart

Mayfield

Burbury Brummie
While listening to this 60's song by Gerry & the Pacemakers, my thoughts were immersed in my first sweetheart. Happy summer evening walking and talking in Burbury Park. This song was her favourite. It was as if it was yesterday.....

I wonder what pleasures life has blessed her with? I hope that she has been happy? Her name............ I am too much of a gentleman to reveal. Mabz

Put those lovely songs on and for most of us we are there in that long ago time frame once again. Lovely memories for you Mabz. Youtube is great for that since there are so many songs from the "good music" days on it's site. It's marvellous really. I have the G and Pacemakers CD but very rarely play it since my favourites are on Youtube.

great and who said men are not romantic mabz but if I put something like that on maggie would give me another thick ear lol

That's why I am glad that Paula is not a member Tom. Mind you, there is nothing wrong in memories.............

That's true Keith. When I used to sit with my mom watching TV and something naughty came on she would always laugh and say memories. My dad was her first and last sweetheart. She was only 51 when dad died had many a gent ask her out but her answer was always thanks but no thanks. Jean.

She is a lucky woman. She found her true love at her first attempt. Lovely....

I was in Danny Reddingtons old record shop, and started chatting to him about my first sweetheart, John. Well, John didn't know he was my sweetheart. We lived in a flat at the top of a hill, and I used to watch out for him every day, and spot him coming up the hill. Not difficult as he often wore a bright orange shirt and fluorescent socks. 'Johnny Angel' was a hit at the time, and I was always singing it to myself, thinking of John in his orange shirt. The closest I ever got to him was during a game of kiss chase. But it broke my heart when he and his family went off to Australia as ten pound poms. While I was chatting, Danny put a record on. It was 'Johnny Angel'. That brought a tear or two to my eyes. And I bought the record. Music takes you back to those moments.

Mine was Keithy scrivens and we would have competitions on who could kiss for the longest time without coming up for a breather. We used to win hands down. Small world he's got a caravan on our site and we met up on friends reunited. I was all of 10 at the time. I used to beat him at marbles too. Jean.

Mayfield, could you draw a picture of her from memory so we can see?
The memories conjoured up by the old favourite songs are not only of girls. I find myself recalling all sorts of things when I listen to my oldies.

Here's a mixture that will bring back memories, done in brilliant fashion:

It seems strange now, but I wasn't aware that boys were for kissing until I was almost ready to leave school. My best pal in the world was my cousin Brian, he did ask me to marry him when he was staying at our house when we were about 10. It wasn't quite a proposal. it went something like 'When we grow up I'm going to marry you'. I said - OK.

He's still one of my best pals. Here we are 3 years old
