Salvation Army view of Birmingham in 1899

This is from the Salvation Army publication Social Gazette. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the commentator spoke highly of the well behaved crowds, children not allowed to dance in the streets and lack of gangs of youths.
All considered to be much more desirable than London.
