I have found within my Mum's belongings (RIP Mum) a WW1 medal belonging to Herbert Henry Mallard but have no idea why this would have been given to her. I've not been able to research many of the other names in her/their family yet but hope to find a connection at some point. I did wish to search the army records but for one search I didn't really wish to register my bank details.
I found his name in the 1832-1965 electoral role 'Absent Voters List. Moseley and King's Heath Ward' but the strange thing is that the number around the edge of the medal is different to various searches completed so far.... just one digit. Absent voters list advises soldier no. 57464 yet the medal is engraved with 57484.
Any clues to connection to Janet Jones of Reeves Road, King's Heath would be gratefully appreciated.
(apologies if I have posted this incorrectly, I can't quite see how to create a NEW post).
